  • Ancient China 3500 BC

The northern part of China is by 3500 BC thickly populated. Farming communities cover the region, and the people grow rice, millet, beans and yams. They keep chickens, pigs and water buffalo.

The south is more thinly populated. Here, the mountains, swamps and rivers of the region are home to more primitive economies based on fishing, hunting and gathering.
